Every Drop Counts
Every year, Paul Mitchell® sponsors two celebrity fundraising events for Waterkeeper Alliance, raising almost two million dollars. Waterkeeper Alliance preserves and protects our water from polluters. “Paul Mitchell® has made a significant contribution to the success of the Waterkeeper Alliance. CEO and Co-Founder John Paul DeJoria shares our clear vision for a future with clean waterways, and has once again demonstrated his commitment to the cause as title sponsor of this year’s record-breaking benefit,” says Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Environmental Lawyer and President of the Waterkeeper Alliance.
The Waterkeeper Alliance knows that clean water creates a healthier planet. Water covers 71% of the Earth and makes up 60% of our bodies. Yet 20% of the world does not have clean water. Every year, 2 million people die from a lack of clean drinking water or diseases spread by dirty water. The Death of 90% of large fish species can be attributed to water pollution and in the next 20 years, clean water may plummet by 30%.

Myth 1
We have less water today than we did 100 years ago.
FACT
There is the same amount of water on earth today as there was when it formed. The difference is there are so many more people, and a much bigger demand for water.
Myth 2
There’s plenty of clean water because water will purify itself.
FACT
Water does purify itself, but people have polluted water so much, that today, 1.1 billion people do not have clean water, and 2.6 billion do not have basic sanitation. |
